Who Pays the Real Estate Agents?

It might surprise you to know that until recently, in almost all cases, the seller was responsible for the commissions earned by the agents on both sides of the transaction.

The concept behind that common practice was the idea that the listing agent was hired by the seller to sell their property. That agent then listed and marketed the property so that buyer’s agents were aware and brought potential buyers to view. When a contract was written, the agents worked together to make it to closing day. At that point, the listing agent technically “shared” the commission with the buyer’s agent.

However, the 2024 National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Settlement requires the implementation of certain changes

Just so you know, Blue Bridge does not charge any hidden fees to either sellers or buyers. Our sellers always know up front what they’ll be paying, and we can help guide our buyers if they are required to fund their agent’s commission. None of our clients pay administration fees or any other fees beyond a commission at the time of closing.
